Hello gals! Sorry, school started for me and it's about to end me. I haven't done gal makeup recently, so I would like to talk about clothes when it comes to gyaru fashion. I feel like people tend to get confused when it comes to the clothing, so this could be a good resource for beginner gals :)

In my opinion, there are no such things as "gyaru" clothes. You can wear anything as long as your makeup reads as gal. Gyaru is a personal style, and there's nothing wrong with mixing gyaru substyles or having more than one as long as your overall look reads as gyaru, again. However, there are some things to have in mind, I guess you could say.
First of all, you don't need to be rich to be gyaru. I am, loud and proud, short on money most of the time, so what I do is go to thrift stores and buy my clothes there. You shouldn't feel embarrassed or ashamed for buying there or not having any brand clothes! Many clothes can still look ugly or boring regardless of brand. Some tips while thrifting: visualize the clothing, do you have anything to wear it with? Will you use it more than once? And if you can, try it on! If you don't think it fits you, don't buy it. You can also find cute clothes in discount stores, such as Ross, Burlington, DD's, TJMaxx, etc! (I live in the U.S, so those are the recommendations I can offer) If you don't know of any near you, you're just gonna have to explore around and see what you can find! DIY is also a wonderful way to get clothes or accessories, there are many tutorials online you can follow :)
There is no formula for being fashionable; it's more of a trial-and-error thing. The more you create coords, not just gyaru ones, the more you'll know what looks best on you.
You can take a look at the outfit's silhouette, color palette, accessories, etc. In my opinion, most outfits look good with confidence, good hair, and good makeup! Keep practicing, and you'll be able to find coords that make you look and feel good. Clothes depend on the substyle you're getting inspo from, but usually it's clothes like skirts, shorts, graphic tees, tank or tube tops, knee-high boots, dresses, etc. Accessories could be chunky jewelry, belts!!!, bangles, bracelets, rings, etc. You can't overdo it when it comes to gyaru, so experiment with different things!!
Being gyaru is a journey; nothing is perfect at first! Please don't feel discouraged; it takes effort and time to put into it for you to improve. A closet is something that you build over time. Don't stress if you don't have many cute clothes, because everyone starts somewhere. Find inspo in magazines and other gals, but also try to build your own personal style. I personally think that's really important for any style.
Goodluck gals, and thank you for reading my blog!
